Manic Miner

Manic Miner is a classic platform or jump 'n' run game, which was first written for the ZX Spectrum home computer by Matthew Smith and released by Bug - Byte Software Company in 1983. The successor was Jet Set Willy.

The Briton Matthew Smith was born in London in 1966 and wrote this hit game as a 17 -year-old in just six weeks. As background music he chose the classical music piece In the Hall of the Mountain King by Edvard Grieg, a frequently interpreted composition from the 19th century.

Aim of the game

The game consists of 20 levels, where Miner Willy - the character to be a miner - must each collect more flashing key before the oxygen runs out in this level. Once all the keys of a level are collected, the player character must be passed to a flashing door through which to get to the next level. In the way Miner Willy are some moving enemies such as spiders crawling, hopping kangaroos and penguins, robots, monsters, and even on and ironing toilet seat. The game is over when Miner Willy has touched one of these enemies three times or has been dropped from a great height.
