Manon van Rooijen

Manon van Rooijen ( born July 3, 1982 in Leerdam ) is a Dutch freestyle swimmer.

Career

Van Roijen began swimming at the club ZC'90 in Gelderland Culemborg. In 1997, she left the club to continue their training with clubs in Nieuwegein ( Aquarijn ) and Amersfoort. In January 2001, she went for three years in the United States and attended the University of Miami to study underwater biology. There they also found ideal training conditions. After three years and the bachelor's degree, she returned in January 2004, returned to the Netherlands and joined the club Topzwemmen West -Nederland in Dordrecht, where she trained with Dick Bergsma. According to the European Swimming Championships in Budapest in 2006, she moved to Amsterdam TopZwemmen and trained there with Martin Truijens.

Achievements

Greatest sporting achievements Van Roijens was winning the silver medal in the 4x100m freestyle relay to Inge de Bruijn, Wilma van Hofwegen and Tamar Henneken at the Summer Olympic Games 2000 in Sydney. By the time of 3:39:83 minutes. was also set up a new European record in the success. During her U.S. time winning the bronze in the 4x100 m freestyle at the European Championships in Berlin in 2002 was greatest success. This was followed by several years in which they did not swim internationally at the highest level. In the world top she reported back in 2007, when she was eighth with the 4x200m freestyle relay in Melbourne. About the same distance, the Dutch team in 2008 finished fourth at the European Championships. Van Rooijen, however, not part of the final cast, she entered only in the flow.

In August 2008 she took part in the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing and contributed as the final swimmer of the Dutch 4x100m freestyle relay in the run up to the finals. Later, when the Olympic victory of the season it was not used.
