Marcel Kars

Marcel Kars ( born April 20, 1977 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a Canadian- Dutch hockey player who stands since 2011 in Eindhoven in the Eredivisie Kemphanen under contract.

Career

Marcel Kars, who was born as the son of Dutch emigrants in Toronto and grew up, began his career as a hockey player with the Barrie Colts, for which he was active in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey League in the 1996/97 season. Then he attended for four years the University of Guelph, for their hockey team he was parallel in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport active.

From 2002 to 2006, they played the Center for the Amsterdam Bulldogs (2005 renamed Amstel Tijgers ) in the Eredivisie. With Amsterdam he won in 2003, 2004 and 2005 respectively from the Double Dutch league title and cup. During the summer 2006, he played for the Newcastle North Stars in the Australian Ice Hockey League ( AIHL ) and won with his team the Goodall Cup, the Australian champion. For this success, he contributed as a scorer and best original donor of the regular season. He then moved to 2006/07 season to the second team of HC Bolzano in Italy's Serie A2. After just one season in there Kars went back to Amsterdam, where he played in the Eredivisie for his former club Amstel Amsterdam Tijgers. In January 2008 he moved to Deggendorf Fire in the German Oberliga.

In the 2008/2009 season, he returned to the Amstel Amsterdam Tijgers. For this he played until his move to league rivals Tilburg Trappers in November 2009. The season 2010/11 he joined the Zoetermeer Panters, where he was team captain. For this he scored in 14 games 21 scorer points, including five goals, before joining in the Eredivisie to HYS The Hague. With this he was at the end of the season again by Dutch masters. Since the season 2011/12 playing for their league rivals Eindhoven Kemphanen.

Internationally

For the Netherlands Kars participated in the World Championships Division I 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 and the World Championships of 2012 IB Division part. In addition, he went to the Netherlands in the qualification for the Olympic Winter Games in Turin in 2006 and Vancouver 2010.
