Marco Fortes

Marco Fortes ( born September 26, 1982 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese shot-putter.

Career

Fortes took 2000 to the junior world championships, but could not in the shot put or discus throw qualify for the finals, in 2001 he won the bronze medal in the shot put at the European Junior Championships. In 2002, he pushed the ball 18.76 meters, this performance improved but not until 2007. Fortes 2008 exceeded 20.13 m the 20 -meter mark and put on his first Portuguese national record at the 2008 Olympics, he retired at 18, 05 m from the qualification. In 2010 he won the Ibero- American Championships with 20.69 m. At the European Indoor Championships in 2011 he reached the final battle and finished with 19.83 m eighth. Half a year later occupied Fortes at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu in sixth place with 20.83 m. In March 2012 he won the European Cup in Montenegro in the winter litter and improved the Portuguese national record of 21,02 m.

Fortes is 1,89 m tall and starts for Benfica.
