Marco Vecellio

Marco Vecellio (* 1545 in Pieve di Cadore, † 1611 in Venice) was an Italian painter of the Renaissance.

Life

Vecelli was born in Pieve di Cadore, but soon moved on to Venice, where he was trained by his uncle, the painter Tiziano Vecellio. Later he accompanied him on his trips to Rome and Germany. He was Titian's favorite pupil and whose style was as close as any other family member.

From it some notable paintings are preserved in the Venetian Doge's Palace. Among them is a mythology in the Great Council Hall and the image of the Doge Leonardo Donato in front of the Virgin Mary with the Christ Child, and the meeting with Charles V, Pope Clement VII, 1529th He also painted for churches in Venice, Trevigi and in Friuli. He created some important works for the church of San Zanipolo in Venice. In San Giacomo di Rialto is an Annunciation. Similarly, there is the Palazzo Comunale of Titian's hometown Pieve di Cadore works by him.

He was the father of the named after his uncle painter Titianello ( circa 1570 - circa 1650 ).
