Marcos Roberto Silveira Reis ( * August 4, 1973 in Oriente, São Paulo), better known as Marcos, is a former Brazilian football goalkeeper.

Life

Club career

Marcos played from 1992 to 2011 for SE Palmeiras. With the club he was in 1993 and 1994 Brazilian champion, 1998 Cup Winners' Cup. A year later he was with the trained Luiz Felipe Scolari team in the final of the Copa Libertadores against Deportivo Cali. The game was won on penalties.

After nearly 20 years and 530 games for SE Palmeiras he ended his career before the start of the new season on January 4, 2012.

National

Marcos was between 1996 and 2005 Brazilian national team. He was careful, 29 times the gate of the national selection, including in the Copa América in 1999, the 2002 World Cup and the Confederations Cup 2005. Though he most recently was on the court in 2005, he declared only in October 2006 that he will retire from international football since his competitor Dida since Marcos form weakness could claim the regular place in the Brazilian goal following the 2002 World Cup.
