Marcus Wedau

Marcus Wedau ( born December 31, 1975 in Soltau ) is a former German football player.

Club career

Wedau was already as A Teenager at Bayer 05 Uerdingen on the opening day of the 1993/94 season, the 28th May 1993, his debut as a defender in the second division. In the 0-3 defeat in Wolfsburg, he was replaced in the 74th minute and then came this season only to a short-term use.

After Uerdinger promotion back to the Premier League, he came in the first round can not be used, however, was in the second half of the season 1994/95 for a regular player in the midfield. On 19 game against Hamburger SV he led with his first Bundesliga goal for a 1-1 draw the Uerdinger a 4-1 win. In the season 1995/96 he was in 32 games on the court, but could not prevent the descent of the now renamed KFC Uerdingen 05. By the end of the 1997/98 season he played in Krefeld, before he followed his former coach Friedhelm glitter for MSV Duisburg.

In Wedaustadion Wedau played two years in the first and another season in the second division. In 2001 he moved to second division LR Ahlen, but where he came only to eight inserts. For the 2002/2003 season, he joined the Regionalliga Nord to Rot- Weiss Essen. With RWE he rose in 2004 to the Second Division; after direct relegated again he went to the Regional rivals VfL Osnabrück.

In 2006 it moved Wedau to Australia, where he played for Queensland Roar in the A-League, but only ten times was used due to injuries. In summer 2007 he returned for family reasons to return to Germany and completed in October a new contract with his old Uerdinger employer, who played at this time in the Oberliga Nordrhein. In the summer of 2009, he ended his active career at the Krefeldern.

Overall Wedau comes to 93 games ( seven goals) in the Bundesliga and 96 inserts ( ten goals) in the second division.

He was U-16 European Championship in 1992 with the German U-16 selection in Cyprus. Between 1995 and 1998, he came to a total of 12 appearances in the U-21 national team.
