Marek Motyka

Marek Motyka ( born April 17, 1958 in Żywiec ) is a former Polish footballer and current coach.

Career as a footballer

Marek Motyka began his professional career at Hutnik Krakow before moving to Wisla Krakow in early 1978. With the club he was Polish champion in 1978 and 1979, and in 1984 Polish Cup Finalist. In 1990 he moved to Norwegian club SK Brann, after which he returned to Poland and played at clubs such as Hetman Zamość and Cracovia Krakow. All in all, brought it Motyka to 224 games and 6 goals in the 1st Polish league. He also played six matches for the Polish national team.

Career as a coach

His coaching career began at Motyka Szczakowianka Jaworzno, where he worked from May 2002 to May 2003. Szczakowianka succeeded even the rise in the Ekstraklasa with him. After his departure, he worked at Tłoki Gorzyce before managers from Polonia Warsaw asked him for help to keep the club before the demotion. After he was replaced by Dariusz Kubicki in June 2005, he started on 4 November his work at Gornik Zabrze and saved the club from relegation to the second division. Between January 2006 and April 2006, he was replaced by Ryszard Komornicki before he was released on 12 December 2006. However, he returned in March 2007 back to Gornik Zabrze. On 9 July 2008 he was introduced as the new coach of two-time Polish champion Polonia Bytom. After the 0-3 home game defeat of Polonia Bytom against Ruch Chorzów Motyka was suspended on 15 March 2009 from his coaching job. Since May 18, 2009 Motyka is coach of Korona Kielce.
