Margaret Drummond, Queen of Scotland

Lady Margaret Drummond (* 1340, † January 31, 1375 in Holyrood Abbey ) was 1364-1371 Queen of Scotland.

Biography

Margaret was the youngest daughter of Sir Malcolm Drummond († 1346 ) and his wife Lady Margaret Graham. During her marriage to Sir John Logie († 1363), she became the mistress of the king of Scotland David II ( 1324-1371 ). After the death of his first wife, Princess Joan of England (1321-1362), 1364, he married Lady Margaret. After seven years of childless marriage intended her husband, supported by the nobility, to divorce in order to marry his mistress, Lady Agnes Dunbar. But so far it did not come, because the king died on February 22, 1371 at Edinburgh Castle. Was succeeded by his nephew and founder of the Royal House of Stuart in Scotland, King Robert II Queen Margaret retired to the Abbey of Holyrood Abbey, where she died on January 31, 1375 and was buried.
