Margaret Jamieson

Margaret Jamieson ( born 1953 in Kilmarnock ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labour Party.

Jamieson visited the Grange Academy in Kilmarnock and the Ayr College and earned degrees in the hospitality sector. Between 1969 and 1979 she worked as a cook, followed by a long career joined in a regional office of the trade union UNISON.

In the Scottish Parliament elections in 1999 Jamieson ran as candidate of the Labour Party for the constituency of Kilmarnock and Loudoun. With a lead of 2,800 votes over the candidate of the SNP, Alex Neil, she won the mandate and moved into the newly created Scottish Parliament. In the following 2003 parliamentary elections they defended their mandate despite vocal losses. The parliamentary elections in 2007 finally brought a change of Deputies of Kilmarnock and Loudoun, because the SNP politician Willie Coffey was the first time to win and Jamieson lost her seat in Parliament for the constituency of his party.
