Margaret Morse Nice

Margaret Morse Nice (December 6, 1883 in Amherst ( Massachusetts), † June 26, 1974 in Chicago) was an American ornithologist and high school teacher.

Life

Margaret Morse Nice was the daughter of Anson D. Morse and Margaret Duncan. She had three older and three younger siblings. In 1908 she married Leonard Blaine Nice and 1911 and 1922 they had five children; her husband died two months before her.

At Mount Holyoke College in 1906 she made a statement and the biology degree in 1915 at Clark University. Around this time she also produced a study on Bobwhite. Until 1927 she explored birds in Oklahoma. Then she got a professorship at Ohio State University. She conducted further research on birds, especially on Song Sparrow. Her awards include the inclusion in the Ornithological Society of different countries.
