Margaret of Brandenburg (1453–1509)

Margaret of Brandenburg (* April 18, 1453, † April 27, 1509 in the courtyard) was a princess of Brandenburg and abbess of the monastery courtyard from 1476 to 1490.

Life

Margaret was the third daughter of the Elector of Brandenburg Albrecht Achilles (1414-1486) from his first marriage with Margaret of Baden ( 1431-1457 ).

Initially intended for the monastic life, Margaret was betrothed by her mother's death with the Count Palatine of Zweibrücken Kaspar. At that time, life threatening ill Margaret, decided to dissolve the betrothal and yet to become a nun.

She followed in 1476 by ​​Catherine de Kotzau as abbess. 1490 she renounced the office of abbess and died as a simple nun. Margaret had some land and settled in 1499 to create a land register.
