Maria Katinari
Maria Katinari (Greek Μαρία Κατινάρη ) was born in Chania, on Crete as the eldest daughter of Antonis Katinaris and Maria Rippi. She is a Greek actress, singer and songwriter.
Youth
Since her father was a famous and successful composer and bouzouki and her mother, herself a singer, also came from a family of musicians, Maria had early first stage experience.
In a period of youthful rebellion against the rebetiko tradition of the family, she joined, just thirteen years old as a singer in a rock group. At 16, she began to travel, first during the school holidays as a singer through Europe.
She entered this in live clubs in the Netherlands, England and Germany. In Paris she studied movement and dance, which they financed their studies and their livelihood with appearances.
Back in Athens, she took acting lessons, and continued to study classical ballet and jazz dance.
