Maria van der Hoeven

Maria Josephina Arnoldina van der Hoeven (* September 13 1949 in Meerssen ) is a Dutch politician ( Christian Democratisch Appèl ).

Life

She was from 22 July 2002 to 23 February 2007 Minister of Education of their country in the Cabinet Balkenende III and thereafter until 14 October 2010 Economy Minister in the Cabinet Balkenende IV since September 1, 2011 she is head of the International Energy Agency.

Maria van der Hoeven worked as a local politician. From 1991 to 2002 she was a member of the Second Chamber of the States General. For a controversial discussion she made in 2005 with their advance, in addition to the theory of evolution and intelligent design to teach in public schools.
