Marie Friederike of Hesse-Kassel

Marie Frederike von Hessen- Kassel ( born September 14, 1768 in Hanau, † April 17, 1839 in Hanau ) was a daughter of the Landgrave and later Elector Wilhelm IX / I.. of Hesse- Kassel and his wife, Wilhelmine Caroline of Denmark and Norway.

Marie Frederike married on November 29, 1794 Prince (from 1807: Duke ) Alexis Frederick von Anhalt- Bernburg (* 1767, † 1834). They soon showed signs of it mental illness, which led to inconsistencies in court. Duke Alexius meant that the marriage was divorced on August 6, 1817.

After her death, she was on 22 April 1839 in the crypt of St Mary's Church in Hanau (then Reformed Church ) buried.
