Marie Proksch

Marie Proksch (* 1836 in Prague, † May 17, 1900 ibid ) was a Czech pianist and composer.

She was born as the daughter of pianist and music teacher Josef Proksch, where she also studied. On a tour of 1856/57, which included a stay of several months in Paris, she became known as a concert pianist. After her father's death (1864 ) she took first with her brother Theodor Proksch the line, which was founded by her father "Music education institution" in Prague, which she initiated in 1876 after the death of her brother alone. Marie Proksch composed himself and Pieces for Piano. Bedřich Smetana, also her father's pupils, dedicated to her 1862 No. 6 of his album leaves.
