Mariebergs IK

Mariebergs IK was a Swedish sports club from Stockholm.

History

Mariebergs IK was founded in 1902. During the following years, the athletes, the football and Bandyspieler the club excelled. In particular, Olympic champion John Zander represented the club as a track and field athlete, but other athletes as Ephraim Levin were successful as multiple Swedish champion. The footballer attended regularly - unsuccessfully - to the Svenska Mästerskapet and three times in the game to the Wicanderska Välgörenhetsskölden part, but in each case remained without a title. Also in the series Svenska played the club as the successor of FK Vikingarnas course of the season in 1911/12 for a short time, the competition was not played to the end. With Sven Ohlsson, Gustaf Carlson, Herbert Svensson, Einar Halling - Johansson, Sixten Öberg, Knut Gustavsson and Helmer Lundberg presented the club over the years, several different choices players in the Swedish national team. Upon introduction of the Allsvenskan, the club has been classified in that time still unofficial Swedish league pyramid in the second division, from which the team's relegation in 1927. In bandy, the club was one of the top national teams and stood in 1919 at the semi-final of the championship.

In the 1920s, triggered successively to the various departments of the Marienberg IK, so that the club was disbanded at the end of the decade.
