Marina di Ragusa

Marina di Ragusa is a fraction of the city of Ragusa in the Italian region of Sicily. It is located 25 km south of the city center of Ragusa, on the seafront.

The original fishing village was formerly called Mazzarelli (Arabic for " small suburb "). In the 14th century a lighthouse was built. Mid-19th century grew the small town, as in the area of Ragusa asphalt deposits were discovered. The funded asphalt was brought to Mazzarelli and loaded onto ships.

Another boom began in 1960. Due to the wide sandy beaches, the Marina di Ragusa, surrounded, a bustling tourist center developed here.
