Mark Dearey

Mark Dearey ( born March 19, 1963 in County Louth ) is an Irish politician.

Dearey grew up in County Louth. Originally worked as a secondary school teacher, he taught in the early 1990s in Colaiste Eanna, Dublin. In 1991 he moved the profession and became an independent producer of organic food. In 1999 took place with the purchase of The Spirit Store, a music venue and bar in Dundalk, a renewed professional exchange.

In 2004 Dearey was chosen for the Green Party for the first time in the City Council Dundalk (Dundalk Town Council). Five years later, his re-election to pass in those, as well as his election to the Louth County Council. On 23 February 2010 he was nominated by the Taoiseach as a Senator in Seanad Éireann. Dearey thus assumed the vacant seat of retiring Senator de Búrca Déirdre. With his appointment as Senator Dearey resigned his municipal mandates. In February 2011, he ran unsuccessfully for election to the 31st Dáil Éireann.

Dearey is married and has two children, a son and a daughter.
