Mark of Cornwall

March fab Meirchiawn [ va ː marx b ' meirxjaun ] ( welsh march - "horse" ) is the name of a legendary figure from Welsh mythology.

Mythology

March is in a triad of Trioedd Ynys Prydein ( " The Triads of the Island of Britain " ) called one of the " three sailors of the Island of Britain ". Another triad names him as husband of Essyllt and uncle of Drystan fab Tallwch, who falls in love Essyllt. In the courtly versions of the Tristan theme it corresponds to the figure of King Mark of Cornwall. Both are attributed horse's ears.

In the story Breuddwyd Rhonabwy ( " Rhonabwys dream " ) is March fab Meirchiawn the leader of a band of warriors from Scandinavia and the cousin and adviser of King Arthur.
