He had been hired in 1986, immediately after publication of the self-titled debut album for the group, whose original singer Robert Fleischman got out after the recording of the album. He played with the band two tours opening for Alice Cooper and Iron Maiden before the second studio album All Systems Go took up with her. The record company and the band's management tried at this time to change the image of the band, which had been previously perceived as Vinnie Vincent dominates: It was decided in the future to let Mark Slaughter conduct the interviews, in a letter was the press asked basically reprint photos of the band or any individual members, and there was an attempt to present the band in the future as the Invasion. After the release of the album, which was released on 17 May 1988, the group went on tour, but separated after their last concert, which was held in Anaheim on August 26, 1988.

Slaughter co-founded with bassist Vinnie Vincent Invasion, Dana Strum, a new band that was named Slaughter and was taken by Chrysalis under contract. The two musicians dedicated guitarist Timothy Kelly and drummer Blas Elias, to complete the group, and since then took five studio albums, one EP and two live albums.
