Damn Yankees (Band)

The Damn Yankees were an American supergroup.

Band History

The rock band was founded in 1989 by bassist Jack Blades ( Night Ranger ), Tommy Shaw ( Styx ), Ted Nugent and Michael Cartellone, founded the modern drummer of Lynyrd Skynyrd. The name derives was the musical Damn Yankees.

The self-titled debut album was released on 22 February 1990 and concluded in February 1991 in the U.S. album charts after the third single from the " High Enough ", was reached in January of the year # 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the sales of the album thereby attracted. In 1994 the album was certified double-platinum status.

After the release of the album, the band went for one and a half years on a world tour. Title from the album were in the soundtracks of the movies Valkenvania - used The Gremlins - The wonderful world of madness and Gremlins 2.

In 1992 their second album " Do not Tread ", which although it also reached platinum status, thus only half as good as its predecessor sold. The musicians then concentrated mainly on their solo careers or went back to their original bands. 1998 found studio recordings instead of a planned third album, but it never came to be published. Under the title Essentials appeared a best-of album of the band in 2002.

In January 2010 came the musicians at the Musikmesse NAMM together in Anaheim and played following an appearance by Night Ranger The Damn Yankees title " Coming of Age " and " High Enough ", also Ted Nugent's hit " Cat Scratch Fever".
