Marko Elsner

Marko Elsner ( born April 11, 1960 in Maribor ) is a former Yugoslav- Slovenian football player.

Career

Elsner started his career in 1977 at NK Olimpija Ljubljana. In 1983 he moved to FK Red Star Belgrade in the former capital of Yugoslavia. He won by Red Star once the Yugoslav championship and once the Yugoslav Cup. During his time in Belgrade and the appointment was in the squad of the Yugoslav selection for the European Football Championship 1984 in France. Elsner was able to record any use and Yugoslavia difference in the group stage. This year he was able to win the bronze medal with the selection of Yugoslavia at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles. In 1987, the Slovenian to France OGC Nice, where he stayed for three years. After his father Branko Elsner, his former team principal characters of Austria, had good contacts with Austria, the young Elsner moved to Admira Wacker in the Austrian Bundesliga. After only one year in the Alps, he went again back to OGC Nice and left it there end his career until 1993.

Elsner played for two teams. He was called 14 times for the Yugoslav national football team and twice for the Slovenian national football team. His debut for his new home country Slovenia was the defender on 18 November 1992 against Cyprus.
