Markov is an impact crater on the northwestern edge of the moon 's front panel. Located just south of the crater Oenopides (crater ) on the northern edge of Oceanus Procellarum and Sinus Roris. The walls are terraced and hardly eroded, the interior has a central mountain on.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1964 after the Russian mathematician Andrei Markov. The name first appeared in Rectified Lunar Atlas by Whitaker et al. In 1963. According to IAU naming now also applies to the late 1968 Russian astrophysicist Alexander Vladimirovich Markov.
