Marni Nixon

Marni Nixon ( born February 22, 1930 in Altadena as Margaret Nixon McEathron ) is an American soprano. She lent her voice several times in American film productions.

In 1948 she had her first song used in the movie Joan of Arc. In 1949 she lent her vocals Margaret O'Brien in The Secret Garden. Few high vocal parts, she borrowed Marilyn Monroe 1953 preferably in blondes. 1954 was Nixon Actress at the Broadway play The Girl in Pink Tights.

Deborah Kerr, she borrowed in The King and I (1956) and The Great Love of My Life (1957 ) the singing voice. Nixon's probably the most important use was singing for Natalie Wood in West Side Story. In 1964 she sang for Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady. 1965 Nixon was to see himself as an actor: as Sister Sophia in The Sound of Music. In 1998 she sang as a grandmother Fa for the animated film Mulan.

Into old age, Nixon remained active as a singer on Broadway and in the off-Broadway.
