Marsamxett Harbour

The Marsamxett Harbour is a port in Malta. He is the northerly of two natural harbors of Valletta. In the north it is bordered by the cities of Gzira and Sliema, on the west by the landward cities Ta ' Xbiex, Msida and Pieta. The Marsamxett Harbour is divided into the Sliema Creek, from where to take the tourist excursion boats and a ferry to Valletta, and in the Lazzaretto and Msida Creek. In Marsamxett Harbour is Manoel Iceland, which is reached by a small bridge of Gzira and Sliema Creek separates from Lazzaretto Creek. On the small island there are yacht shipyards and dating from the 18th century Fort Manoel. As of 1643, the island was home to a hospital and served the quarantine to plague and cholera ill patients. Hence the name " Lazzaretto Creek ".
