Marshall Herskovitz

Marshall Herskovitz ( born February 23, 1952 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American film producer, screenwriter and director.

Life

Herskovitz graduated from Brandeis University and then moved to the American Film Institute. Here he met in 1975 to Edward Zwick. Since then both a partnership that still continues today. So the two researchers, among others the television series The Best Years (1987-1991) and worked on numerous film projects. In 1985, she founded with The Bedford Falls Company own production company. Their first collaboration was the television movie Special Bulletin from 1983, for which the two also won an Emmy.

Herskovitz was with the staging of two episodes of the series An American Family in the years 1979/1980 his debut as a director. At this series, he was also involved producer and screenwriter. Followed in 1993 with My Father - My friend his first feature film. Other directing credits followed, mainly used for various television projects.

In 2001, he was together with Laura Bickford and Edward Zwick for Traffic - nominated power of the cartel for the Oscar in the category of Best Film. 2006 distinguishes him from the American Film Institute with the Franklin J. Schaffner Award. 1983, 1988 and 2001, he was both awarded a Humanitas Prize. He also won several Emmys.

Herskovitz has two children.
