Marshall Jefferson

Marshall Jefferson ( born September 19, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois) is a DJ and musician of the house scene in Chicago.

Jefferson created with his track Move your body already in 1986 one of the House anthems, which was ( as actually common until later ) structured loop -like, and the typical piano chords and percussion sounds of the TR -707 drum machine had that should be for the house sound so characteristic in the next decade.

Other well-known tracks were the darkly ecstatic I've lost control, time marches on, or Free yourself ( partially under pseudonyms or as collaborations with other musicians ). Under the pseudonym of Virgo, he produced instrumental tracks that pre-empted the sound of techno.

He is also said to be one of the fathers of Acid House, as it in some tracks the psychedelic sounds of the Roland TB -303 began, which then were characteristic of this variety of house genres.
