The Marten River Provincial Park is a 4 km ² large provincial park in the Canadian province of Ontario. It is located in Nipissing District south of Lake Temagami, 56 km north of North Bay Ontario on Highway 11
There is a reconstructed logging camp from the early 1900's, including a museum, added a visitor center and a campground with 216 spaces.
History
The Cree attracted to an unknown date in the region. End of the 19th century began logging companies cut down the vast forests (mainly Weymouth pine trees ( " White Pines " ) ). Today, a single 300 year old White Pine only stands in the park.
The Cree Nation of Mistissini, already living in neighboring Quebec, and who had emerged from about the 1930s from Nitchequon, Neoskweskaau and a few Nemaska , also took advantage of the region, such as for fishing.
