Yellow-throated marten (Martes flavigula )

The Real marten (Martes ) are a predator species of the marten family ( Mustelidae ). The eight species of this genus are native to Eurasia and North America.

Genuine raccoon reach a head -body length of about 40 to 65 centimeters, the bushy tail is 12 to 40 inches long and their weight varies from 0.8 to 5.5 kilograms. Their fur is usually brownish in color, with some species a bright throat or neck patch is available.

With the exception of the stone marten are Genuine raccoon outspoken forest dwellers. Their diet consists of small mammals, birds and their eggs, but also from berries and other plant parts.

Endangering

The South Indian Yellow-throated marten is listed in the Red List of endangered species by the World Conservation Union IUCN as threatened ( Vulnerable ); all other species of this genus are not considered threatened (Least Concern ) refers.

Cultural History

The raccoon is part of the coat of arms of Slavonia; also in the coat of arms of Croatia it is included. Moreover, this animal is also the namesake for the Croatian Kuna ( Croatian " kuna " = " marten ").
