Martin Whitmarsh

Martin Whitmarsh ( born April 29, 1958 in England) is from March 2009 Team Principal of McLaren Formula 1 team. In 2010, he also exercises the office of chairman of the Formula 1 Teams Association FOTA.

After successful studies in mechanical engineering in 1980, he began first as an engineer at British Aerospace. In 1988 he became chief engineer of the company, before moving to McLaren in 1989. He worked there since the beginning, along with Ron Dennis. Since 2005, he was Chief Operating Officer of the race team. For the presentation of the McLaren -Mercedes MP4 -24 January 16, 2009 Ron Dennis announced March 1, 2009 his post as team boss Whitmarsh to be transferred.
