Mary Beth Hurt

Mary Beth Hurt ( born September 26, 1948 in Marshalltown, Iowa, bourgeois Mary Supinger ) is an American actress.

Life

Hurt attended the University of Iowa and at the Tisch School of the Arts. In 1971 she married the actor William Hurt, and took its name. In 1974, Hurt her Broadway debut. In her theater career, she was nominated three times for the Tony. For the role of Meg in Crimes of the Heart Hurt won an Obie.

In 1978, Mary Beth Hurt her film debut in Woody Allen's drama inner life. For this role she was awarded with a nomination as Best Young Actress at the BAFTA Awards 1979. Other major achievements came with Head Over Heels (1979 ), Garp and how he saw the world (1982 ) and Martin Scorsese's The Age of Innocence (1993). In 2007 she received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for the Independent Spirit Awards for The Dead Girl.

After 1981 saw the divorce of William Hurt, Mary Beth Hurt in 1983 married the director and screenwriter Paul Schrader.
