Mary Carlisle

Mary Carlisle (actually Gwendolyn Witter, born February 3, 1914 in Boston, Massachusetts ) is an American actress and singer.

Life

At the age of four, she moved with her widowed mother to Hollywood. There, her mother married the American industrialist Henry J. Kaiser, the Carlisle through its relationship with the film industry in 1923 a small supporting role in Long Live the King gave. After this film she interrupted her film career since they first wanted to graduate from high school. At the age of 14, she was discovered by Carl Laemmle Jr., whose father was the founder of the film studio Universal Pictures. In 1930 she played a supporting role in Madam Satan, her first film for Universal Pictures. In 1932 she was chosen along with 13 other young actresses for " WAMPAS Baby Star". Apart from some low-budget films, she starred in three films with Bing Crosby, the second lead role. This was followed by movies like Once to every woman or Baby Face Morgan.

In 1942, she finally retired from the film business and married in the same year, the actor James Blakely, who later became a producer at 20th Century Fox was. 1949 Carlisle was manager of the beauty salon Elizabeth Arden Salon in Beverly Hills.

Died in 2007 her husband, with whom she had a child. 1960 was the actress a star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles.
