Mashhad Shahid Hashemi Nejad International Airport or Airport is a civil and military used the airport in Mashhad, Iran. The airport is the third largest in Iran after Tehran Mehrabad and Tehran Imam Khomeini. From the airport, 57 destinations are served around the world. It serves as a hub for Iran Airtour and Mahan Air

Iran Airtour and Mahan Air have their hub here. Routes in the German-speaking countries do not exist directly, it must be switched with Iran Air Tehran - Imam Khomeini.

Incidents

  • On 1 September 2006, a Tupolev Tu -154 slipped beyond the end of the runway and burst into flames. On the plane were at this time 147 passengers, 29 of them died there. The Tu -154 flew the route Bandar Abbas - Mashad.
  • On July 24, 2009 accident Aria Air Flight 1525, a Ilyushin Il -62 on the route Tehran - Mashhad with 153 passengers and burned out; 3 passengers and 13 crew members died.
  • On 24 January 2010 Taban Air Flight 6437 crashed when the pilot attempted an emergency landing because of a medical emergency. All 157 passengers and 13 crew members survived the accident, 42 passengers were slightly injured. The Tupolev Tu- 154M had to be written off.
