Mass No. 2 (Bruckner)
The Mass No. 2 in E minor for eight-part mixed choir and brass band is a musical work by Austrian composer Anton Bruckner ( WAB 27). He composed several sacred works in his life, among these sacred works are also some trade fairs, of which three are numbered: D minor (No. 1), E minor ( No. 2) and F minor (No. 3 ).
Formation
The Mass in E Minor was born in 1866, at a time when Bruckner sought to overcome the disappointment of a silent love to a young girl who had turned down his marriage proposal.
The work
The show is based heavily on altkirchlicher music tradition with a theme that sustainably inspired by the intonation of the Gregorian chant. The show requires an up to eight-part mixed choir and 13 instruments in the following instrumentation: 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 4 horns, 2 trumpets, 3 trombones.
