The western part Ostmassyliens, ie the area around Cirta, fell to the adventurer Sittius Publius, who gave the land to his soldiers and a Roman colony einrichtete, Colonia Cirta Sittianorum. Sittius himself was assassinated 44 BC by Arabion.
