Master of the Embroidered Foliage

The Master of the Embroidered Foliage ( fr. Maître au feuillage brodé, Eng. MasterCard with the Embroidered Foliage ) was a 1500 operating in Flanders painter. Almost certainly he had his workshop in Brussels.

Naming

The Notname Master of the Embroidered Foliage was the unnamed artist in 1924 given by the art historian Max J. Friedlander, who summarized a series of images with common typical presentation and technique of foliage. In these paintings the foliage shown formed, for example in the background a particular form of " heavenly " foliage carpet.

Style

The Master of the Embroidered Foliage is counted among the Flemish Primitives, a designation of Early Netherlandish painting. Stylistically, he is close to the painter Gerard David, and therefore a precise statement of some of his works to which David is still under investigation. The illustrated by the Master of the Madonna type reminiscent of the work of Rogier van der Weyden.
