Matagami

Matagami is a city in the southwest of the Canadian province of Quebec. The city is located in the regional county municipality ( municipalité régional de comté ) Jamesie and was founded in 1963 after deposits had been discovered in the area. North of town is the same lake, Lac Matagami.

Matagami is the starting point of the 620 km long Route de la Baie James to Radisson, which was built in the early 1970s to develop the construction of the James Bay hydroelectric project.
