Mateo Cerezo

Mateo Cerezo the Younger ( * before the April 19, 1637 in Burgos, † June 29, 1666 in Madrid) was a Spanish painter.

Mateo Cerezo became a pupil of his father Juan Carreno de Miranda Mateo and in Madrid, its subsequent stylistics was primarily influenced by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo and Anthony van Dyck. He was particularly in Madrid, but mainly in Burgos, Valladolid and Valencia worked and died in 1666 in Madrid.

His devotional paintings can be found in the churches of the cities mentioned, a Penitent Magdalen in the Museum at Madrid, an Ecce Homo in the national gallery to plague and a Christ on the cross in the Berlin Museum.
