Mattafix

Mattafix is a British producer duo, founded in London in 2003 by musicians Marlon Roudette and Hirji Preetesh.

History

The two had met in a recording studio. In addition to hip-hop are other influences in their music, blues, jazz, reggae, bhangra, to find Calypso.

Marlon Roudette was born in London but grew up from the age of ten on the Caribbean island of St. Vincent on, Preetesh Hirji, however, always lived in London, his parents are from India. Roudette is stepson of Neneh Cherry. His father is Cameron McVey, one of the busiest music producer in London. The name Mattafix comes from a St. Vincent common slang ( The Matter has been fixed ), the " all right " means something.

His international breakthrough came with the same Mattafix Big City Life 's debut single, which was promoted on the radio program of the BBC radio DJs Pete Tong, Zane Low and Jo Wiley. In August 2005, it reached number 15 on the British charts. The end of September 2005, the single was released in Germany on 20 January 2006 and reached the top of the charts. Big City Life was also represented at the 2006 World Cup in Germany as a song.

In the fall of 2005, the band's debut album, Signs of a Struggle appeared. Mattafix in 2006 was nominated for an Amadeus Austrian Music Award. In addition, Mattafix received on 1 September 2006 at the International Jazz Festival in Sopot Forest Opera in the amber stone Nightingale price as the main winner.

In 2007, she themed the Darfur conflict in the Single Living Darfur whose video was shot in a refugee camp in Chad.
