Matthau Mikojan

Matthau Mikoyan ( born March 26, 1982 in Tampere, Matti Tapani Mikkonen real name ) is a Finnish rock musician, singer, guitarist and songwriter in the band named after him.

Life

Matthau Mikoyan is the younger son of Arvo Tapani " Arwo " Mikkonen, who was active as a guitarist in the band Manserock Popeda. About his mother Sirpa little is known, the more contrast over its four -year-older brother Jukka Kristian Mikkonen, better known as " Sir Christus " (also known as " Sir General Christ " since 2009), former lead guitarist of posts originating from Tampere glam rock band Negative. At the age of four years Matthau lost his father during a soundcheck died of a heart attack at age 31.

Musical Career

Earlier career

Even in early childhood, began Matthau to play the guitar. He also ruled today also bass, drums, a little piano and learn harmonica. He had his first acoustic performance claims to be already in 1995. A year earlier, in 1994, he founded with Paavo Pekkonen a band that initially operated under the name Turmio and RIP, then became known as Bloodpit later. In addition, Matthau played and sang in various other bands such as Lavasäteily ( here temporarily with his brother ), Shitkickers or SBT 666th

Bloodpit

After all of these bands remains then Bloodpit when the band, on which he focuses. The first performance will take place on November 26, 1999 in Tampere place in subsequent years makes the band through various line- up changes, the members change especially on the bass part in a very short distance. By 2004, the band also has to penetrate without a record deal, released several EPs for promotional purposes and plays a variety of band competitions, from which they can win in a row in 2001 alone three. There follow several appearances at festivals and finally in 2003 a contract offer from the record label Grotesque Records, which, however, before the band could agree, went bankrupt. Finally Bloodpit come 2004 Beemvees / Playground Music under contract and publish with this record company until 2007, the albums Mental Circus (2005) and Off The Hook (2007 ) and various singles and EPs. There are also performances in Finland, Russia, Italy, the USA and Germany. The single from the album Platitude Mental Circus is selected in late 2006 as one of the theme songs for the computer game NHL 07, the American software company EA Sports. On 20 July 2007 the chapter Bloodpit is finished but for Matthau Mikoyan. During the tour there is a dispute in the band, after Matthau gets out " for personal reasons ", as he states later. The band then made a break and presented itself in the summer of 2008 with a new line-up.

Shortly after the separation of Bloodpit, namely in September 2007, Matthau Mikoyan starts recording his first solo album which will be released on March 12, 2008 in Finland. On February 6, a prior publication had already hit the stores, the single stiletto heels. On the album, which bears the name of the artist, Matthau plays almost all the instruments himself, only on drums he is supported by Simo Stenman (The Bitterlicks ). A stir Matthaus live line-up provides, as it until April 2008 also his January 2008 negatives of his longtime band separated brother " Sir Christus " with includes. Also in the video for the second single Too Fortunate To Cry, which appears in April 2008, the brothers side by side to see, but then leaves Sir Christ the band. Matthau plays with his live line-up various concerts and festivals in Finland, followed in October 2008, "Screw Loose Tour" with concerts in Germany and Switzerland. After the end of the tour Matthau are on its website announced that under the name " Matthau Mikoyan " henceforth not only is he to understand, but it launched as a project band with the following line-up:

One month after the end of the tour, on 19 November 2008, the EP Chasing Ghosts comes into the record. It is the first release of the band Matthau Mikoyan.

On 4 March 2009, the first studio album by the entire band, which bears the name Mania For Life appears. It also contains the songs from the previous EP, which can be therefore regarded as a publication.

In March 2010, the band plays as part of the " Gypsy Tour" again in Germany, however, is no longer on bass Teemu Broman on stage, but Janne Sundvall, confirmed at month- end as a new member of the band. The separation of Teemu Broman was, according to the band for good.

In April 2010, the band was forced to cancel several concerts because Matthau has been injured in a car accident on his arm and will be out playing with the guitar. This leads also to a slight delay in the recording of the third studio album by the band, which will contribute according to data Matthaus on Facebook entitled Hell Or Highwater and will later be released in March 2011.

At the same time, the band Tommi Liimatainen obsolete ( Hype Productions ) on board to gigs in Finland to book. Since August 2012, however, all bookings and inquiries ( national and international) run over the band itself, the contact to be found on the band's homepage.

Side Projects

In addition to his band Matthau plays repeatedly solo performances in which he accompanies herself on acoustic guitar. This no fixed procedure following concert series bears the name Matthau 's Acoustic sauna. In May 2009, it was planned with this performance series a tour in Germany, which had to be canceled at short notice.

In 2008, Matthau played a long time helping out in the bass coming from Tampere band Black Jesus. There he was again side by side with his brother, who played guitar in the band to see. Meanwhile, Black Jesus, however, have dissolved.

He also has a side project named Don Skorleone & Consiglieres.
