Matthew Barton (tennis)
Matthew Barton ( born December 18, 1991) is an Australian tennis player.
Career
2008 Barton played his first tournament on the ITF Futures Tour in Australia, but lost in the first round with 0:6 and 0:6. After that went for him a year without a serious fight before he took up in February 2010 to qualify for the Challenger tournament Burnie and there failed only in the last round. During the year he played more futures tournaments, but reached only once a quarter final. Also, the tennis year 2011 was for him not overwhelming except for a semi-final at a Futures tournament in Australia. The year 2012, however, was very considerable. So he could be in various challenger tournaments qualify for the main draw and also win his first Futures tournament. In the final he beat while his compatriot Samuel Groth in straight sets with 7:63 and 6:3. The year ended on position 429 of the tennis world rankings. Since 2013 he occasionally takes part in the qualifications of tournaments on the ATP World Tour, but never made the jump into the main draw of the tournament. In February 2013, he celebrated his first title of the category ATP Challenger Tour. At the tournament in Burnie native, he won the final against James Ward in straight sets and secured important points for the tennis world rankings. After his victory in Burnie to Barton improved by more than 100 places to position 242, which was his best ranking to date.
