Matthew Pearl

Matthew Pearl ( born October 2, 1977 in New York City ) is an American literary scholar and writer.

Life

Pearl studied post-school at the University School of Nova Southeastern University, Harvard College and Law at the Law School of Yale University. After graduating, he became a lecturer in creative writing and literature at Emerson College and Harvard University.

In his novels he deals with well-known authors and their works such as Dante Alighieri and the Divine Comedy, Edgar Allan Poe and the Dupin detective figure created by this or Charles Dickens. In 2003, his novel The Dante Club was published under the title The Dante Club also in German translation. Other novels by him are The Poe shadow ( The Hour of the Raven, 2007) and The Last Dickens ( The last chapter, 2011).
