Maurice Ahern

Maurice Ahern (Irish Ó Muiris hEachthairn, * 1938/1939 ) is an Irish politician and member of Fianna Fáil.

Ahern was first elected for the constituency Cabra - Glasnevin in Dublin City Council ( Dublin City Council ) 1999. 2000 to 2001 he held the office of Lord Mayor of Dublin ( Lord Mayor of Dublin). Served in this office in the 1980s, even his brother Bertie Ahern. 2004 Maurice Ahern was re-elected to the city council. In the next elections in 2009, however, he could not defend his seat there. In addition, he was a candidate in the June 2009 by-election in the constituency of Dublin Central, but could not prevail against Maureen O'Sullivan himself.

Maurice Ahern is the brother of the two politicians Bertie Ahern and Noel. He is married and has several children. In November 2009 Ahern's eldest son was found dead in his Dublin apartment.
