Maurice Sauvé

Maurice Sauvé PC CC ( born September 20, 1923 in Montreal, Quebec; † 13 April 1992) was a Canadian economist and politician of the Liberal Party of Canada, the deputy of the lower house and ministers. His wife Jeanne Sauvé was both in 1980 as the first woman Speaker of the House and 1984-1990 as the first woman Governor General of Canada.

Life

After schooling Sauvé graduated, he finished with a Bachelor of Arts (BA). Another study of law, he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree and later earned beyond a Doctor of Philosophy ( Ph.D.). He then worked as an economist and married in 1948 Jeanne Mathilde Benoît, the self only MPs and Minister later and further whenever the first woman in Canada was, which was the office of the Speaker of the House and the Governor General of Canada. Between 1949 and 1952 he was president of the newly founded in London World Assembly of Youth ( WAY ).

In the general election of June 18, 1962 Sauvé was first elected as a candidate of the Liberal Party for the Members of the House and represented this constituency Îles- de -la- Madeleine. In the general election on 25 June 1968 he was a candidate in the constituency of Saint- Hyacinthe, suffered there, but a defeat and thus different from from the House of Commons.
