Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi

The Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi was commissioned by the Mongol ruler Timur 1389-1405 in the town of Yasi, (now Turkestan ). Although unfinished in parts, it is one of the largest and best preserved buildings from the time of Timur. Timur, who was then the whole of Central Asia dominated, loved the power and architecture. At the mausoleum of Yasawi he tested structural engineering and decorative art that would later shine in his capital Samarkand.

Khoja Ahmed Yasawi (1103-1165) is considered an important representative of Sufism ( Islamic mysticism ), one in Central Asia widespread of Islam. The collection of his manuscripts have been declared World Soundtrack Awards in 2003 and can today be found in the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Mausoleum of Kazakh khan of the Middle Horde Ablai was buried in 1781.

Since 2003, the mausoleum is a part of world heritage by UNESCO.
