Max Cetto

Max Cetto ( born February 20, 1903 in Koblenz, † April 5, 1980 in Mexico City; Complete name: Max Ludwig Cetto ) was a German - Mexican architect.

Life

Cetto studied architecture at the Technische Hochschule Darmstadt, University of Technology Munich and finally at the Technical University Berlin with Hans Poelzig, where he earned his degree in 1925. After that, he was a staff member of Ernst May at the housing department of the city of Frankfurt am Main on Project New Frankfurt. From 1929 he taught for several years at today's Academy of Design Offenbach

In 1928 he was one of the founding members of the Congrès Internationaux d' Architecture Moderne CIAM ( International Congress of Modern Architecture), who was a renowned forum for architects and urban planners to the late 1950s.

Between 1936 and 1937 he was with other architects responsible for the implementation of the plans of the Heinkel works Oranienburg.

He emigrated to the USA in 1938 and worked in San Francisco along with the Austro -American architect Richard Neutra.

In May 1939 he went to Mexico and became a Mexican citizen in 1947. There he worked as an architect, among others, along with Luis Barragan, and adopted a number of visiting professorships at the U.S. and Mexican universities.
