Max Factor, Sr. (* 1870s in Zduńska Wola or Łódź as Maksymilian Faktorowicz; † August 30, 1938 in Beverly Hills, California ) was a Polish- American cosmetics entrepreneur.

Life

Maksymilian Faktorowicz was born in 1872 or 1877 as a Jew in the then Russian-occupied Poland in or near Lodz. Even as a nine year old boy, he worked for a wig maker and Estheticians; As a teenager he completed his training in Berlin and Moscow. He quickly became the official cosmetics consultant of the imperial family and the Royal Opera.

Early 20th century, emigrated with his family to the U.S., he demonstrated his skills in his new home in 1904 at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition.

In 1908 he moved to Los Angeles and founded the company Max Factor & Company. Since 1991, It is one of Procter & Gamble.
