Max Gallo

Max Gallo ( born January 7, 1932 in Nice, France ) is a French writer, historian and politician.

Life

The son of Italian immigrants worked at the beginning of his career as a journalist. During this time he was a member of the Parti Communiste to 1956 français. Later he supported the Parti Socialiste.

Of 23 March 1983 to 18 June 1984, he was Secretary of State and government spokesman of the French government under Prime Minister Pierre Mauroy, of the European elections from 1984 to 1994 Member of the European Parliament.

Since 31 May 2007, Gallo is a member of the Académie française, and has held the armchair 24. The former owner of this seat was Jean -François Revel. In addition to works on the history Gallo published a series of biographies about about Louis XIV, Rosa Luxembourg (1993 ), Charles de Gaulle ( 1998), Napoleon ( 2009) and a series of novels in which he describes the history of France colored and popular. Gallo's view of history is very traditional. There are fewer social upheavals and social structures as great men make history for him.
