Max Rauffer

Max Rauffer ( born May 8, 1972 in Kolbenmoor, Rosenheim ) is a former German ski racer. He was specialized in Downhill and Super -G and was in these disciplines five times German champion. In the World Cup he could win a race.

Biography

Max Rauffer competed for the SC Leitzachtal. From 1991 to 2005 he was member of the German National Ski Team. In 1992 he played his first World Cup race on the Lauberhorn downhill in Wengen. From 1995 to 2005, he was ranked in the Skiing World Cup in the disciplines of downhill and Super -G in the top 30 in the world rankings.

Rauffers first career highlight in 2000 was a third place in the departure of Kvitfjell. His greatest sporting achievements was winning the downhill race at the Ski World Cup in Val Gardena, on 18 December 2004. He was the first German winner in a World Cup downhill after 13 years, as Markus which Meier had won in the 1991/92 season, and the fourth German at all, where a victory in a World Cup downhill succeeded.

In October 2005, less than a year after his victory in Val Gardena, Rauffer gave up competitive sports. He pointed to health problems; in his career he had suffered numerous injuries, including two ACL tears, shoulder injury, ankle injury, meniscus damage, and two vertebral fractures. The skilled carpenter studied since 2007 in industrial engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Munich and wants to take over the mid-sized company of his parents.
